Report on Leprosy in the North-Western Provinces

An 1876 sanitary report by Charles Planck, Sanitary Commissioner of the North-Western Provinces, examining the distribution and reported causes of leprosy across the province. Drawing on 1,531 case histories and census figures, it includes statistical tables and detailed references to Kumaun, Garhwal, the Almora Leper Asylum, occupations, caste, age, heredity and contagion. The report identifies Kumaun and Garhwal among the areas with the highest recorded prevalence.
